Background

Alyx Vance is one of the key characters in Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, and more than likely Half-Life 2: Episode Three. She is displayed as a young woman in her mid-20s of Black/Asian decent, often found fighting alongside leading protagonist Gordon Freeman. Alyx is mapped over Jamil Mullen, and voiced by Merle Dandridge.

Family

Alyx is the daughter of both Azian and Dr. Eli Vance. Her mother can be seen in Black Mesa East, in a family photograph. The two originally lived together in the Black Mesa dormitories, but her mother later died during the Black Mesa Incident. Later on in the story, it is revealed that Alyx would have died too, except that the G-Man had saved her for his own purposes.
